Az esti órákban érkezett a segélykérő hívás július 21-én, hogy Székesfehérváron, a Sarló utca egyik tíz emeletes panelépületének hetedik emeletén tűz van. A székesfehérvári tűzoltók öt gépjárműve mellett a Fejér megyei katasztrófavédelmi műveleti szolgálat is riasztást kapott az esethez.
A gyors felderítés során kiderült, hogy az érintett lakás szobájában egy televízió készülék gyulladt ki. A tulajdonos áramtalanította a berendezést, ezt követően pedig elfojtotta a lángokat. A gyors észlelésnek és beavatkozásnak köszönhetően a tűz nem terjedt tovább a szobában lévő többi berendezési tárgyra, azonban a lakás füsttel telítődött. Ketten voltak az ingatlanban, a mentők a helyszínen megvizsgálták őket, kórházba szállításukra nem volt szükség. A tűzoltók nagy teljesítményű ventillátorral átszellőztették a lépcsőházat, továbbá átvizsgálták a tűzzel érintett lakást.
